Membership in this organization is open to all persons
regardless of race, religion, sex, national origin, disability
or age (except that the minimum age for membership is 14 years.)
Membership in the Department consists of ACTIVE and ASSOCIATE
MEMBERS. An active member must be active in the Department as a
Fire Fighter or Fire Police person. An Associate member provides
support to the Department such as helping at activities or
providing financial assistance. (The Department encourages
spouses of Active members to be Associate members.) Members need
not be residents of Upper Saucon Township.
Candidates for Active or Associate membership must be at
least 14 years of age. Members must be over 21 years to hold
office.
Application for membership shall be made in writing using the
designated membership application form obtained from and given
to the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. All applications
for membership shall be endorsed in writing by at least one
sponsoring member of the department. An applicant shall be
declared duly elected to the Department when approved by vote
conducted by written ballot of not less than a majority of
the active members present at a regular meeting of the
membership. An applicant who has been rejected as a member
cannot reapply for at least two years. No reason for rejection
need be given.

FIRE FIGHTING AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL
TECHNICIAN COURSES
Attention students ages 16 and older:
Through partnerships with LCCC, the Upper Saucon
Volunteer Fire Department, and the Upper Saucon Ambulance
Corp, students will be able to earn graduation credit for
taking fire fighting and EMT courses. These courses will
be offered, starting in September, for the 2005-2006
school year.
Junior Fire Fighter Program:
Students, ages 16 and older, can register for the
Junior Fire Fighting Course to gain credit toward high
school graduation. Lehigh Carbon Community College will be
the institution supplying the credit. The course involves
88 hours of class work one night per week at the Mack
Station in Allentown in addition to hands-on training at
the local fire department. Each student will be assigned a
mentor through the Upper Saucon Volunteer Fire Department.
Emergency Medical Technician:
Students, ages 16 and older, can register for the EMT
course to gain credit toward high school graduation.
Lehigh Carbon Community College will be the institution
supplying the credit. The course involves approximately
160 hours of education and will most likely be offered
through Lehigh Valley Hospital on Route I-78.
Requirements:
Students must be age 16 or older to qualify for
graduation credit. Students will need to obtain working
papers before they can participate in the program. Upon
successful completion of the program in which they enroll,
students will receive high school graduation credit.
