FIRE FIGHTING AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL

TECHNICIAN COURSES

Attention students ages 16 and older:

Through partnerships with LCCC, the Upper Saucon Volunteer Fire Department, and the Upper Saucon Ambulance Corp, students will be able to earn graduation credit for taking fire fighting and EMT courses. These courses will be offered, starting in September, for the 2005-2006 school year.

Junior Fire Fighter Program:

Students, ages 16 and older, can register for the Junior Fire Fighting Course to gain credit toward high school graduation. Lehigh Carbon Community College will be the institution supplying the credit. The course involves 88 hours of class work one night per week at the Mack Station in Allentown in addition to hands-on training at the local fire department. Each student will be assigned a mentor through the Upper Saucon Volunteer Fire Department.

Emergency Medical Technician:

Students, ages 16 and older, can register for the EMT course to gain credit toward high school graduation. Lehigh Carbon Community College will be the institution supplying the credit. The course involves approximately 160 hours of education and will most likely be offered through Lehigh Valley Hospital on Route I-78.

Requirements:

Students must be age 16 or older to qualify for graduation credit. Students will need to obtain working papers before they can participate in the program. Upon successful completion of the program in which they enroll, students will receive high school graduation credit.

Interested Students:

Any student, interested in participating in either of these programs should contact their school counselor about enrollment"
